I’ve shared that my precious mother-in-law is at her home dying of cancer. Hospice has provided everything she needs to be pain free. She is still alert and very much in charge though her energy level lessens every day.
Last Wednesday Hubby and I began another turn as her caregivers. This is a such a special place for us. We were married on the dock on the lake one beautiful autumn day a little over ten years ago. Hubby’s step-dad built the place when he married Hubby’s mom twenty plus years ago. Step-dad passed away last year, but he loved our wedding so much he built a gazebo for future weddings. No one else has been married there (yet) but lots of events have been held at the gazebo and plenty of fishing is done from the dock.
One of our Thanksgiving guests made a great picture of the homeplace. I think it depicts the tranquility we feel here and captures the spirit of the place. Didn’t my MIL choose a lovely place to die?
